PHILADELPHIANov. 8, 2016For the past four years, PCI Ventures, part of the Penn Center for Innovation (PCI), has held the AppItUP Challenge, an idea challenge that collects mobile app ideas from across the University and helps transform the best ideas into breakout business successes. Ten semifinalists were selected from a pool of 233 submissions to participate in this year’s AppItUp Challenge, to be held next Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at Quorum at the Science Center.

SemperCon has partnered with PCI to host a special app development workshop, “From Idea to Killer App, Step by Step” for the semifinalists of the AppItUP Challenge this Thursday, November 10, 2016.

This event is open to all members of Philadelphia’s tech community. Key steps involved in transforming written app ideas into killer apps will be revealed in this workshop. It will specifically prepare AppItUp Challenge finalists for the upcoming round of PCI’s competition, where they must present their app idea and business model framework to Philadelphia’s venture capitalist community.

From defining a core purpose to working through UX/UI challenges, Founder and CEO of SemperCon and workshop leader Rick O’Brien will provide real world examples that demonstrate the process behind the release of an MVP app. Workshop attendees will leave with a clear sense of how to develop and design an app capable of sustaining a business and disrupting an industry. Rick has helped dozens of companies develop 100+ mobile, web and IoT apps over the last eight years.
